Communication and language are known to be at the heart of human experience. Countries must educate students and learners who are linguistically equipped to communicate and interact successfully in their national language and foreign language (actfl.org, 2015). This paper looks at the right stage at which a student should be introduced to the foreign language.
Studies show that education systems of different states are advocating for students to take a second language at a younger stage in schools. They argue that a second language should be taught at this early stage of the child life because a young brain of a kid is more capable of absorbing information as compared to older minds. And this will help the learners to be more competitive in the world’s market.
Foreign language should be taught at this early age due to the above fact. From the research that young kids can learn faster than the older people, the study shows that, at this young age a kid is more susceptible to new ideas and information than an older child(Boyson, B., A., Semmer, M., Thompson, L., E., & Rosenbusch, M, H. 2013). This fact gives clear evidence as to why the introduction of a foreign language should be done in the kindergarten as compared to a higher level.
From that it is clear that, a foreign language should be introduced to the learners at this young age, to be able to increase their competitive advantage in the ever growing diverse world. Being able to understand a different language, the students can interact freely with other kids from different countries freely. And this will increase the child’s competitiveness in the world market in future as he will have understood and obtained all the foreign culture. And this will expose them to any job market.
In conclusion, without learning a foreign language at an early age and thoroughly understand the way of life of other foreigners a country might lose any available opportunity in the foreign land. As the children grow up, they lose that capacity of absorbing the significant content of information that might be contained n a foreign language.
